Mission: To offer resources and support to educators as they encourage students to become eco-friendly and environmentally conscious citizens by providing them with the information, hands-on activities, and experiences they need to understand their impact on the planet and its inhabitants.
As a parent who plays an active role in my children's school and also works as a professional develoment facilitator for educators, I wanted to set up a resource for teachers to use as they transition from a traditional school model to one with a specific area of focus and method of teaching. Having been a classroom teacher I know the limits of time teachers have to investigate new resources and plan how to best utilize them. I hope that this site will serve as a portal for resources, contact information, and a place for them to collaborate and share ideas and resources among themselves as well.
While Planting the Green Seed began as a resource for a specific school in Indianapolis, Indiana, the resources and materials are applicable and adaptable for use in any classroom. While some resources are "Indiana-specific" all states should have a similar state-specific resource or department.
